Scientists might turn to paper mills to buy papers or data because they need scientific publications to boost their output or get promotions. This worrying trend received extensive media attention recently.

This Special Interest Event will present the latest facts on this trend, discuss possibilities to detect these constructed manuscripts and prevent them from being published. Neuroscientists, editors of journals, research integrity experts and journalists will introduce the topic. Experiences and future actions to prevent this harmful trend will be discussed in the remainder of the event.

This special interest event is organised by the FENS Committee for Higher Education and Training (CHET).
